Thursday we woke to find a gray wet day. Not to mention it was COLD. A few years ago, I would have spent the day inside drinking something hot and snuggled up under the afghan my Mama made for me. But, after I had these two little ones, I discovered the fun that a day like this can hold. Splashing in fresh mud puddles is a delight in the Franklin household. Everyone of us has a pair of rubber boots. Although, I guess Annalise will wait until she is walking to wear her adorable ladybug rain boots. (Thank you Aunt T !) Life is too sweet to allow a little cold rain to get in our way.

Our little girl is getting so big. She said "Hey Da" today. I can hardly believe she is so big. Gideon is so fascinated by this whole thing. It is lots of fun watching him try to get her to say things. So, now we can have lots of conversations as long as they include "hey", "yea", or "Da". I love this picture of the three loves of my life.

Our little girl is growing up. She is doing pretty well with her cup. She has never had a bottle, so this is a new experience. But, as you can see, she likes it pretty good. Jake and I finally are getting a good start on her side of the room. We are just a little behind. Considering our track record of procrastination, I guess I should be thankful that we are getting it done before she leaves for college. She sure is growing up fast. So is our little Gideon man. Such sweet children. We are so thankful for everyday we have with them.

Jake and I have a new nephew. He was born on Oct. 29th. (So, I am a little late with the anouncement). He is Alexander Sage Franklin. He is one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen. He is doing wonderfully well, and seems to be at complete peace with his new world. We love him. Congratulations to Jeremy, Amy, Alayna, and Nathanael.
I am a little late posting our pics from Halloween. The kids had a great time. Gideon was Pooh. Annalise was the Honey Pot. They were so sweet. I cannot say that Annalise enjoyed her costume very much, but I cannot say that I blame her. They were able to go trick -or - treating at Aunt Kim and Uncle Pete's . Gideon had a really great time. He is still enjoying the candy. These children bring us so much more joy than we could have ever imagined. We are so grateful they are ours.

We are all so excited that it is finally fall. It is my favorite time of year. And, of course my hot natured fellas are always glad for cooler weather. We have really been enjoying the cooler temperatures so far. Last week the children and I spent the day at Grandmama's and Grandad's. It was so much fun. We also were able to visit Mama Weeze. A very special lady in our family's life. Certainly much more than a neighbor of Grandmama and Grandad. She was so sweet to the children. She had sweet gifts for both of them. Annalise's was an adorable stuffed dog that plays Jingle Bells. Gideon's was a toy fishing rod and fish. He and Grandad immediately went fishing. Grandad is the best.
We also recently carved our first pumpkin. Well, I guess I should say that Jake carved our first pumpkin. He did a great job. The kids love it. I think Gideon really is enjoying taking the top off and looking inside. Looking forward to Halloween and dressing the kids up. It is going to be so fun.

This past weekend we took the kids on their first train ride. It was so fun. We rode with the Heart of Dixie Railway. Jeremy and Amy took their little ones and Grandmama and Grandad brought Anna Catherine (who happens to be one of Gideon's favorite people in the world). It was a very short ride to a pumpkin patch that Heart of Dixie set up. It was really cute. The little kids had a ball. I just love seeing things through their eyes. Things we take for granted ,they are always so amazed by. It is such a gift.

It has been a while since we posted anything. But, things have been pretty busy around here. Gideon has a new sandbox and we have had a lot of things to build. He REALLY loves it. In the picture you can see him enjoying it with Grandad. Grandad is always the best sport. Always willing to play. Gideon is a very lucky boy to have him. Really, I guess we all are.
The kids and I were able to go to the Hand family reunion yesterday. We had a great time. We always love to spend time with Grandmama and Aunt Tay.

Jake and I took the children to Tannehill State Park (or, as Gideon says, "Steak Park") Sunday. We had such a good time. I really love Tannehill. My family spent a lot of time there when I was growing up, so I have a lot of really good memories there. Gideon really loved the grist mill. I think he could have stayed there all day. Annalise was an angel. She smiled and laughed all day. As you can see in the photo she was very comfortable in her backpack. She snoozed for quite a while. Gideon and I played a lot in the spring. I think he just loves playing in water of any sort. (Unless it involves washing his hair) We sure did enjoy our day. I guess we just enjoy one another so much. Gideon was sad to see his Da go back to work today. But, I remind him and myself that Friday is coming again.

We were able to go to Mobile to visit Dand'un and Grandaddy. Gideon was so excited about going, that he cried everyday when he found out that we were not going that day. So, I tried to occupy his thoughts with making projects for our family. The above photo shows him with Mr. Dand'un (the puppet he made for Dand'un). We arrived Friday night to wonderful hugs and wonderful supper. Saturday Jake and Gideon were able to ride Grandaddy's horse ,Ringo. Gideon loved that!! Afterwards, Jake, Gideon, and Donny went to visit a friend of Donny's in Mississippi. They looked at lots of property and horses. A perfect day for my two guys. Meanwhile, Annalise and I were honored to go to Auntie Kara's ballet class. She dances so beautifully. It was such a joy to see her in what brings her so much happiness. Saturday night was spent with the rest of the family with Caleb grilling hamburgers. They were delicious and we loved seeing Paw Paw, Aunt Trisha, Uncle Harold, Chris, Bethany, and the rest of the brood. We did not want to leave on Sunday. But, we never do. We miss you Dand'un and Grandaddy.

Mama hosted a birthday party for all of the August and September birthdays. It was tons of fun. Gideon had a wonderful time. By the end of the night he was red faced and sweaty. Just like his Daddy likes to see him. I guess Jake thinks that it means he is having a good time and playing hard as all little boys should. Annalise was a little fussy and being an unashamed "Mama's girl" as she has a tendency to do. But, she did find a new favorite spot. Her Aunt Obbie's arms. I guess you can tell in the pictures just how happy she was. She was giggling. I can't say that I blame her since Obbie happens to be one of my favorite people in the world as well. Gideon was also thrilled to be able to feed Uncle Damon and Aunt Fran's orphaned calf, Annabelle. He was really excited. It was such a treat. She is such a beauty. I think that everyone had such a good time. Looking forward to the next get together.

The children and I went to the zoo today. We decided a day out was needed after a rough night after shots and with two children teething. They both had a great time. Annalise was an angel and Gideon was just so excited. I think his favorite thing was the giraffes. They had a new baby and it was adorable. My favorite was the sea lions. (Which just happens to be my Mama's favorite animal at the zoo.) One of them kept barking. That was really fun. We got home in time for a wonderful nap. Of course no time for house work. But, hopefully the kids will not remember how filthy the house was. Time sure is flying by. We will try to enjoy each day that we have together.

Hey everybody. Jake has been after me to start this blog forever. I have just been dragging my feet. But, these children of ours do such amazing things, I feel like I need to share it. So, here we go. Our little girl turned 6 months today. I can hardly believe it. How could that be? How can Gideon be 2 1/2 and going to the potty? Annalise had her 6 month check-up today. She weighed 16 lbs and 10 oz. Our doctor says she is doing great. She is sitting up and playing with her brother, she is taking a bath in the big tub, she is starting baby food, and she has two teeth!! Gideon is getting bigger everyday. He is obsessed with all things Thomas the Tank Engine, loves to play in the dirt, wants to do everything himself, talking like such a big boy, and he his cutting his last two teeth for a very long time!! They are such an incredible joy to us. In his prayers tonight, Gideon thanked God for his new slide, his sandbox, rocks, windows, walls, and while stroking my hair, thanked God for Mommy. Life is so rich.
